Network Diagram for the Samba Storage Server: The Samba server and client computers are set up the following way: The Samba Storage Server (based on CentOS 7) has the hostname smb-server and IP address 10.0.1.11 The Samba CentOS 7 Client has the hostname smb-client and IP address 10.0.1.14 The Samba Windows 7 Client has the IP address 10.0.1.12 These computers are in the same network 10.0.1.0/24 Configuring DNS for Samba Server: Before you get started, make sure your DNS server is configured correctly. Otherwise, Samba may fail to start.

Configuring a full DNS server is out of the scope of this article, so I edited the /etc/hosts file of every CentOS 7 machine and added the following line there. 10.0.1.11 smb-server Step 1: Go to the Start menu and search for notepad. Now right click on Notepad icon and click on Run as administrator. Step 2: Now press + o to go to File Open and select the file C: Windows System32 Drivers etc hosts Step 3: Now add the above line to the end of the file. Now press + s or go to File Save to save the file.
Installing Samba Server: Samba server is not installed by default on CentOS 7. So you have to install it on the smb-server machine. Before installing Samba server, run the following command to update the YUM package repository cache.
$ sudo mount -t cifs -o username=USERNAME, password=SAMBAPASSWORD //SERVERIP /SHARENAME MOUNTPOINT Note: USERNAME and SAMBAPASSWORD are Samba login details, SERVERIP is the IP address of the smb-server, SHARENAME is the name of the share and MOUNTPOINT is the location/path where you want to mount your share SHARENAME on CentOS 7. The share is mounted. Accessing Samba Shares from Windows Client: From windows, just open the File Explorer and type in HOSTNAME SHARENAME in your location as marked in the screenshot below.
Once you’re done, press. Now type in your Samba USERNAME and PASSWORD and click on OK. You should be logged in to your share as you can see. Adding More Shares: If you need to add more shares, read Creating a File Share section of the article at Note: I did everything while SELinux was disabled. Working with SELinux is out of the scope of this article. Please check the SELinux documentation for more information on SELinux and how to set it up for Samba. So that’s how you install and configure Samba share with Windows and CentOS 7.

Install Notepadqq on Debian 8 Jessie We can also install Notepadqq on Debian 8 Jessie from the same PPA. But as we all know, Debian does not support adding PPA using the add-apt-repository command. So we have to add the PPA manually. First create a separate source list file under /etc/apt/source.list.d/ directory with nano editor or your favorite editor. Sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/notepadqq.list Add these two lines in the file.
Deb trusty main deb-src trusty main Notice that the codename is trusty (Ubuntu 14.04) because most of the time packages made for trusty can be safely installed on Debian 8 as well and generally you don’t have to worry about dependency problem. Save and close the file. Now import the GPG key of Notepadqq to Debian by using apt-key command. Sudo apt-key adv -recv-key -keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 63DE9CD4 Then update local package index.
Sudo apt-get update Install Notepadqq. Sudo apt-get install notepadqq For those of you who are curious, when adding PPA using add-apt-repository command on Ubuntu-based distributions, there will be a separate source list file created under /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ directory. All PPA repositories are stored in those separate source list files. You can check them out with ls command: ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ Install Notepadqq on Arch Linux You can easily install Notepadqq from AUR with Yaourt package manager. Yaourt notepadqq Check out the following post if you are not familiar with Yourt package manager.
For Ubuntu and most other distributions Just run the following command in a terminal window: sudo snap install notepadqq (if your distro doesn’t have a “snap” command, you have to install it: ) Launchpad PPA This method is not recommended. Use the above snap package instead. 218 thoughts on “ Download”. Mark I just installed snap then notepadqq on Fedora 28, as per the instructions. It runs, but outputs the following to the terminal: Missing icon: “go-previous” Missing icon: “go-next” Missing icon: “view-refresh” Missing icon: “document-open-recent” Missing icon: “application-exit” Missing icon: “edit-delete” Missing icon: “edit-select-all” Missing icon: “go-next” Missing icon: “go-previous” Missing icon: “go-jump” Missing icon: “view-fullscreen” Missing icon: “system-run” Missing icon: “window-new” Missing icon: “help-about” Is this normal, or is there a fix? Also, I’m wondering if it’s not finding fonts, too.
All the text, including the menus, is in a Courier font, and not anti-aliased. It looks significantly different than when I build from source. Building from source gives the expected font appearance. Your thoughts on this? P.S.: I’ve been using an extremely old version for many years.
I’m elated to find a recent version. Thank you, so much. ↓.
User guide. Mike I don’t think swearing at people is appropriate: at the risk of making you even grumpier, yes I have, and the SNAP route just doesn’t work. I’m on absolutely brand new Lubuntu 18.04 and snap doesn’t work – until you instsall snapd, and then if you do it installs something under /snap/bin (where I don’t want it) and won’t run it.
Seems to have some obscure “wrapper” script associated with the program but even running that directly doesn’t work. Linux is RELIABLE: we don’t need oddball installation routes that add complexity and don’t deliver.
I too, with respect, would regard a.deb as the most fundamental form of installable. No need to get shouty about why I’m wrong though – I’m not expert enough to create one, so I’ll go and try to find where I got one last time. ↓. ![]() How To Install Centos Linux
goodknight Hi, I have installed notepadqq (0.51.0) via PPA this morning, and since it was complaining about the version of Qt (“You are using an old version of Qt (5.2.1)”) I have installed the latest Qt on my Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop. However it is still complaining about the version, so I have also set Qt paths according to this article changing the configuration file (“/usr/lib/x8664-linux-gnu/qt-default/qtchooser/default.conf”). Currently my Qt paths are like this: /home/user1/Qt/5.6/gcc64/bin /home/user1/Qt/5.6/gcc64/lib Thank you! ↓.
Eitan Some issues I ran into: – Ctrl+H not working? Possibly due to an old QT version – dragging a file to an open nqq window appends it to the current ‘new’ buffer instead of opening it. (unlike double-clicking which opens correctly) – tabs are not saved. Exiting nqq causes me to lose my tabs other less-important issues: – No preference window to set the keys.
How was I supposed to know that ctrl+alt turns rectangular select mode? Free gps maps download for tomtom. I got that from guessing. – No help or a manual of any kind. (man is quite unhelpful).
