Issue A former Brocade B 300 FC switch with only an 8GB and EGM key installed (product number AM866A), running FOS 6.1.0a, was connected via two ISL ports to an existing Fabric (linked to a SW 200E). It was decided to upgrade the unit to FOS v6.2.2e and later the unit got relocated to its final position. When the unit finished initialization, the former working ISL ports were showing segmented - No Fabric License. The user had tried to duplicate the issue as reported in the lab and used as well a B 300 and a SW 200E with two ISL connections in between. First the user had removed all license keys from the lab B 300 except the 8GB and EGM one and rebooted the unit.

The former established ISLs got marked with segmented - No Fabric License. Now the user had downgraded the B 300 from 7.0.0a via all interim versions to 6.2.2e. At that point of time, the ISLs were still broken (segmented). The final downgrade from 6.2.2e was only possible by using the firmwaredownload -s command via CLI. After performing that downgrade and the hareboot from the switch, the ISLs went online and establish a valid connection to the SW 200E.
Solution With these results from the lab unit it is assumed that one can give the evidence, that the B 300 units are (were) capable to get connected to another Fabric even no Full Fabric license key is installed if the user run a FOS version of 6.1.0a (the initial firmware these units got shipped with). But, that behavior is mainly by mistake and nothing which is guaranteed with any further FOS upgrade because a switch without any Full Fabric key, like the B 300 as with product number AM866A, should only be used as standalone unit. Therefore, to get this unit into a Fabric, the Full Fabric license key has to be bought as an additional feature.
The visible behavior is based on a firmware bug, which seems to get corrected (detected) as soon as the switches get updated away from FOS 6.1.0a. Any incoming request from a user or partner to get a Full Fabric key for free or as reprint need to be rejected.
The user either needs to get the unit downgraded and operating it at FOS v6.1.0a (which is no longer supported FOS version) or the user needs to buy a Full Fabric key as additional feature. The product number for that license is T4261A = License for 8/8 Base (0) e-port SAN Switch (AM866A) to increase connectivity to Full Fabric connectivity.
ICL 8-Link, or Inter Chassis Links – This license activates all eight links on ICL ports on a DCX-4S chassis or half of the ICL bandwidth for each ICL port on the DCX platform by enabling only eight links out of the sixteen links available. This allows users to purchase half the bandwidth of DCX ICL ports initially and upgrade with an additional 8-link license to utilize the full ICL bandwidth at a later time. This license is also useful for environments that wish to create ICL connections between a DCX and a DCX-4S, the latter of which cannot support more than 8 links on an ICL port. Available on the DCX-4S and DCX platforms only (This license replaces the original ICL license for the DCX-4S and is new for the DCX). DataFort Compatibility — This license is required on the Brocade Encryption Switch/DCX/DCX-4S with FS8-18 blade(s) to read & decrypt NetApp DataFort-encrypted disk and tape LUNs.
DataFort Compatibility License is also required on the Brocade Encryption Switch or DCX/DCX-4S Backbone with FS8-18 Encryption Blade(s) installed to write & encrypt the disk and tape LUNs in NetApp DataFort Mode (Metadata & Encryption Algorithm) so that DataFort can read & decrypt these LUNs. DataFort Mode tape encryption and compression is supported beginning with the FOS v6.2.0 release. Availability of the DataFort Compatibility license is limited; contact your vendor for details. Advanced Extension – This new license enables two advanced extension features: FCIP Trunking and Adaptive Rate Limiting.
The FCIP Trunking feature allows multiple IP source and destination address pairs (defined as FCIP Circuits) via multiple 1GbE or 10GbE interfaces to provide a high bandwidth FCIP tunnel and failover resiliency. In addition, each FCIP circuit supports four QoS classes (Class-F, Hi, Medium and Low Priority), each as a TCP connection.
The Adaptive Rate Limiting feature provides a minimum bandwidth guarantee for each tunnel with full utilization of the available network bandwidth without impacting throughput performance under high traffic load. This license is available on the 7800 and the DCX/DCX-4S for the FX8-24 on an individual slot basis. Advanced FICON Acceleration – This new licensed feature uses specialized data management techniques and automated intelligence to accelerate FICON tape read and write and IBM Global Mirror data replication operations over distance, while maintaining the integrity of command and acknowledgement sequences.
This license is available on the 7800 and the DCX/DCX-4S for the FX8-24 on an individual slot basis. Some models offer bundles that include 2 or more optionally licensed features. These bundles are defined for each unique product, and are outside the scope of this release note document.
Brocade License Key
Temporary License Support The following licenses are available for 45-day temporary use, with a maximum of two temporary licenses per feature and per switch (90 days maximum):. 10GbE FCIP license (support is new in FOS v6.3) Note: Temporary Licenses for features available on a per slot basis enable the feature for any and all slots in the chassis.
Brocade San Switch Simulator
Universal Temporary License Support The following list of licenses are available as Universal Temporary licenses, meaning the same license key can be installed on any switch running FOS v6.3 or later that supports the specific feature. Universal Temporary license keys can only be installed once on a particular switch, but can be applied to as many switches as desired. Temporary use duration (the length of time the feature will be enabled on a switch) is provided with the license key. All Universal Temporary license keys have an expiration date upon which the license can no longer be installed on any unit. ICX6430-C12 The ICX6430-C12 doesn't support stacking. However, a stack can be somewhat simulated by tagging a dedicated port with all our VLANs. This will allow traffic from any VLAN to use the same 'uplink' port. Also, without a proper stack, we can not create a trunk/LAG.
So we enable rapid STP on each switch's customer-facing uplink port instead. Enable Jumbo Frames The ICX6610 support packets up to 10240. That is to say, if jumbo frames are enabled, the MTU of the switch is 10.

Configure VLAN provide a way of dividing up a switch (or stack of switches) into multiple, isolated switches (this is actually somewhat simplistic, but it gets the idea across).
Traffic from one VLAN segment can not reach ports allocated to another VLAN, providing a useful layer of security. Planning We're creating three separate;.
ID: 100 for the. ID: 200 for the. ID: 300 for the (. By default, all ports default to 1. If you want to improve security, you can leave all unused ports on VID 1.
In this tutorial, we need to allocate all ports for use by other equipment. Before you start, you need to decide how you want to assign physical ports on your switches to VLAN IDs. I like to do this by creating a table showing all the ports, label their external port numbers and logical numbers and then write in what will be plugged into each port. With this, it's fairly easy to mark what ports will be assigned to what VLANs. Cabling a pair of ICX6450-24 In this example, we're showing how to cable up a pair of switches in a very typical configuration. It can drive two systems along with the usual foundation pack.
The table below represents a pair of these stacked together. The table below represents a pair of these stacked together.
